Mississauga to Toronto by Car: Pearson Airport and Downtown Travel Guide

Mississauga and Toronto run into each other so smoothly that many visitors don't notice when they've crossed from one to the other. Driving from Mississauga to Toronto by car usually takes 25 to 45 minutes to reach downtown, depending on where you start and what the highways are doing.
There's one detail that catches a lot of visitors out: Toronto Pearson International Airport isn't in Toronto. It's in Mississauga. So if you live or stay here, your airport run is a local trip. After more than 12 years of doing it, from Square One condos to quiet streets in Meadowvale, we can tell you the hard part is rarely the distance. It's the timing.
This guide covers both journeys, to Pearson and into downtown Toronto, with realistic drive times, the main routes and what to expect from each way of getting there. For terminals, arrivals and every other way in and out of YYZ, the complete Toronto Pearson airport transfer guide has the full picture.
Where Is Toronto Pearson Airport Located?

Booking confirmations and boarding passes often list Toronto Pearson International Airport with a Mississauga, ON address, and it's not a mistake. Pearson serves the whole Toronto region, but the airport itself sits in the northeast corner of Mississauga, right beside the Etobicoke border. It's the main airport for Mississauga, Toronto and most of the GTA.
Terminal 1 and Terminal 3: what to enter in your GPS
Pearson has two passenger terminals, and they're far enough apart that entering the right one matters. Terminal 1 is on Silver Dart Drive. Terminal 3 is on Conair Drive. Both addresses list Mississauga, ON. Typing "Pearson Airport" into a map app sometimes routes you to the wrong one, so pick the terminal by name. For pickup spots inside each building, see where your chauffeur meets you at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3.
Which terminal your airline uses
Air Canada and most of its Star Alliance partners fly from Terminal 1. WestJet, Delta, American, British Airways, Air France and KLM use Terminal 3. Check your booking a day or two before you fly, because assignments occasionally change. If you end up at the wrong one, the free Terminal Link train connects them in a few minutes.
Mississauga to Pearson Airport: Drive Times by Neighbourhood
Mississauga is a big city, and the trip to the airport varies more than people expect. These are typical drive times outside rush hour.
City Centre and Square One
Around 15 to 20 minutes. Most drivers take Highway 403 east to the 401 or 410, or head up Hurontario Street and across. It's one of the easiest airport runs in the region.
Port Credit and south Mississauga
Plan on 20 to 30 minutes. The usual route is the QEW to Highway 427 north, or straight up Mavis Road or Hurontario Street, depending on traffic.
Meadowvale, Streetsville and Churchill Meadows
Usually 20 to 30 minutes via Highway 401 east. Traffic on the 401 near the 403 and 410 interchange is the main thing that slows this trip down.
Early flights and rush hour
Weekday mornings and late afternoons can easily double these times, especially around the 401. For a flight before 8 a.m., traffic is rarely the issue. Finding a ride at 4 a.m. is. Booking a car the night before means you're not refreshing an app in the dark, hoping someone nearby is awake.
Mississauga to Toronto by Car: Distance and Drive Time

The distance from Mississauga to Toronto depends on which ends you're measuring. From Square One to Union Station is roughly 30 km. From Port Credit, it's a little less. From Meadowvale, it's closer to 40 km. On a quiet road, that's 25 to 45 minutes. At rush hour, an hour or more isn't unusual.
Three main routes
QEW and Gardiner Expressway. This is the most direct route from south Mississauga into the downtown core. The QEW becomes the Gardiner at the Toronto border and runs along the lakeshore to the Financial District and Union Station.
Highway 401. This is better for north Mississauga, Meadowvale and anyone heading to midtown, North York or Yorkdale rather than downtown. It's wide and fast when it's moving, but it's one of the busiest highways in North America.
Highway 427. This north–south link joins the 401 and the QEW and Gardiner. It's handy from the airport side of Mississauga and when one route is jammed and the other isn't.
When traffic slows you down
Eastbound into Toronto, mornings are worst, roughly 7 to 9:30 a.m. Heading home westbound, it's late afternoon into early evening. The Gardiner also has regular lane closures for repairs, and big downtown events like Leafs and Raptors games, concerts and festivals add their own slowdowns near the waterfront. If you have a meeting or a show to get to, leave earlier than you think you need to.
Car Service, Taxi, Rideshare or Transit?
Each way of getting around Mississauga has its place. Which one makes sense depends on what you're carrying and when you're travelling.
Private car service suits airport runs with luggage, early departures, families and business trips. You book ahead, the price is agreed in advance, and someone is waiting for you on arrival.
Taxis are easy for short, unplanned trips around Mississauga and wait at the airport's taxi stands.
Rideshare services work well for quick hops at quiet times. Prices rise at busy times, and early-morning availability in residential areas can be patchy.
Transit works for some trips. MiWay buses connect much of the city to the airport, and GO trains from stations like Port Credit and Cooksville run into Union Station. With suitcases, though, it's a different experience.
For a closer look at the trade-offs at the airport, this comparison of limo, Uber and taxi options at Pearson goes through each one in detail.
How Airport Pickup and Drop-off Works
Arriving at Pearson. Your driver tracks your flight, so an early landing or a delay doesn't throw the pickup off. On a standard pickup, your chauffeur waits at the pickup area, and you get 20 minutes of free waiting once they arrive. That's usually plenty for a domestic flight with carry-on bags.
Coming in from overseas, or with a lot of luggage? Add a Pearson meet and greet service. Your chauffeur meets you inside arrivals with a name board and walks you to the car. You also get a full hour of free waiting from the moment your flight lands, which covers most customs lines.
Leaving from Mississauga. You get a confirmed pickup time based on your flight, your neighbourhood and the time of day. Your driver helps with the bags and drops you on the departures level outside your airline's check-in area, at Terminal 1 or Terminal 3.
Either way, airport transfers in Mississauga are booked ahead, so the details are settled before you travel.
Choosing the Right Vehicle

The right car depends on people and luggage more than anything else.
Sedans (Cadillac XTS, Lexus ES, Volvo S90 or similar): up to three passengers and two large suitcases. Right for most business trips and couples.
Mercedes S-Class: the same capacity, for client pickups or occasions where the car itself matters.
SUVs (Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon XL, Lincoln Navigator): up to six passengers, five comfortably, with room for four or five large bags. The usual choice for families.
Sprinter van: groups of up to 16, each with a suitcase.
Not sure which fits? Count the suitcases, not just the people. Two travellers with four big bags need an SUV, not a sedan. The full luxury fleet lists the capacity of each vehicle, and child or booster seats can be added on request.
Business Travel and Airport-Area Hotels
A lot of business happens within a few kilometres of the runways. The Airport Corporate Centre, Meadowvale Business Park and the offices around Square One are full of head offices, and the hotels along the airport corridor see a steady flow of visiting executives. Plenty of them land, go straight into a meeting nearby, and head downtown later the same day.
That kind of day suits a booked car well. A driver can wait between stops, take calls in a quiet back seat, and provide a proper receipt at the end. Companies that move people through Pearson regularly often set up a corporate car service account so bookings and billing stay in one place.
Booking and Cancellation Policies
Before you book any car service, check three things: how much notice you need to cancel, how waiting time works, and what gets added on top of the fare. With SARJ, it works like this:
Regular bookings can be cancelled free of charge up to two hours before pickup.
Long-distance trips (roughly 100 km or more) need 24 hours' notice for a full refund.
Standard airport pickups include 20 minutes of free waiting. Meet and greet includes 60 minutes from landing.
The airport's pre-arranged pickup fee, tolls and taxes are added where they apply.
The full details are in the booking and cancellation terms. They're worth a two-minute read before you book any car service, not just this one.
Tips From Our Chauffeurs
Our drivers cover Mississauga every day. A few things they'd pass on:
Name the terminal, not just "Pearson." Terminals 1 and 3 are a fair drive apart, and the wrong one costs time you might not have.
Leave a buffer on weekday afternoons. The 401 between the 403 and the 427 can turn a 20-minute trip into 45 with very little warning.
For downtown meetings, think about the Gardiner. When it has lane closures, the 401 and Don Valley Parkway can be quicker, even though it's a longer route.
Mention the extra bag when you book. A golf bag or a second stroller is the most common reason a sedan turns out to be too small.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far is Toronto from Mississauga?
About 30 km from Mississauga City Centre to downtown Toronto. From Port Credit it's a little less, and from Meadowvale or Churchill Meadows it's closer to 40 km.
What's the best way to travel from Mississauga to Toronto?
With luggage, a group, or a fixed time to arrive, driving or a booked car is the most direct option. For a solo commute to Union Station, GO trains from Port Credit or Cooksville avoid highway traffic entirely.
Is Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga?
Yes. Pearson serves the whole Toronto area, but it's located in Mississauga, which is why both terminal addresses end in Mississauga, ON.
How long does it take to get from Mississauga to Pearson?
Usually 15 to 30 minutes, depending on your neighbourhood. Rush hour on the 401 can double that.
What address should I use for Terminal 1 or Terminal 3?
Terminal 1 is on Silver Dart Drive and Terminal 3 is on Convair Drive, both in Mississauga. Search by terminal name in your map app rather than just "Pearson Airport."
How early should I leave Mississauga for my flight?
Aim to be at the airport three hours before an international or US flight and two hours before a domestic one. Add your drive time, plus extra on weekday mornings and afternoons.
Is a car service better than parking at Pearson?
For short trips, parking can be convenient. For longer trips, parking fees add up day by day, while a car service costs the same whether you're away for two days or two weeks. You also avoid finding your car in a dark garage after a late flight.
Can I book a ride from Mississauga to downtown Toronto for a meeting or event?
Yes. Car service isn't just for the airport. Downtown meetings, concerts, games and evenings out are common bookings, and a driver can wait or come back to collect you.
What happens if my flight to Pearson is delayed?
Your driver tracks the flight and adjusts the pickup to when you actually land. If you've added meet and greet, you also get 60 minutes of free waiting from landing, which covers most customs lines.
Can I book a car for several stops or by the hour?
Yes. If your day includes a few meetings, a hotel check-in and a dinner, an hourly chauffeur booking is often simpler than arranging separate rides.
