Getting Across Downtown During TIFF 2026
TIFF 2026 runs September 10–20. If you’ve been before, you already know the drill: half the festival sits on a few blocks of King West, and when a big screening ends, everyone wants a car at the same time.
The main spots we drive to every year are TIFF Bell Lightbox (King & John), Roy Thomson Hall, the Princess of Wales and Royal Alex, Scotiabank Theatre on Richmond, and — new this year for industry — the Metro Toronto Convention Centre for TIFF: The Market (Sept 10–16).
What goes wrong without a booked car: Uber ETAs jump, drivers cancel because they can’t reach the curb, and you’re stuck in formal wear refreshing an app. What works better: one chauffeur who already has your hotel, knows which side street is still open, and can wait while you finish a Q&A.
A few practical things we tell clients:
If you’re bouncing between two or three venues the same night, book hourly. Point-to-point is fine for hotel → one theatre → hotel.
Leave 15–20 minutes between buildings that aren’t next door. Walking looks close on a map; festival fencing changes that.
Send us your first address and hotel when you book. We’ll flag known closures once the city posts them closer to the date.
